On September 30^th the winners of the Ubuntu International Youth Voluntary Service Awards 2009, an award for quality in youth voluntary service, were announced at the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg, South Africa. The winning awards:

• Gold Award: Durbanville Children’s Home (South Africa)

• Silver Award: African information Movement (Ghana)

• Bronze Award: Campagnes des Hommes: Sports and Youth (Togo)

Commenting on the awards, the former European Commissioner Ján Figel said in a European Commission Press Release:    “I congratulate the winners of the Ubuntu Awards. They exemplify all that is positive about volunteering..(…) It further pleases me tot see that the next Awards will take place in 2011, the European Year of Volunteering.”
