Young European of the Year 2009 awarded

european of the year 2009Every year the Heinz-Schwarzkopf Foundation awards ‘The Young European of the Year’ in co-operation with the European Youth Parliament. This year the award ceremony took place on 2 December in Berlin where the Young European of the Year 2009 Sandra Orlovic from Serbia was awarded. She works for the Humanitarian Law Center in Belgrade. The foundation rewarded her for her commitment to stimulating international understanding between people. According to the foundation her commitment to the understanding in southeast Europe is exemplary.

Every year the foundation is looking for young European people between the age of 18 and 28 years old who dedicated themselves in a particular way to European communication and integration. The award is financed with € 5000, – to be used tot finance a 6 month practical traineeship with a Member of the European Parliament or another European institution or to finance a project which promotes European integration.
