Youth unemployment in Europe still grows
The Statistical Office of European Commission (Eurostat) has released the latest data on youth unemployment. Unfortunately numbers continue to increase. In November 2009, the youth unemployment rate (under-25) was 21.0% in the euro area and 21.4% in the EU27. To compare with the data of previous month, October 2009, it has increased by 0,4% and 0,7 %. In November 2008 it was 16.6% in both zones. The lowest rate was observed in the Netherlands (7.5%), and the highest rates in Spain (43.8%) and Latvia (36.3%). Further information: Eurostat press release.
