IN THE SPOTLIGHT: ADVIT Moldova

Volunteer. Meet new people. Connect to the community.

ADVIT stays for Association for Development, Voluntary Service and Information for Youth. ADVIT Moldova aims to promote cultural understanding and youth empowerment through opportunities of international exchange and voluntary work. As the recognized charity working in the area of youth development; ADVIT Moldova sends and receives young people, who want to broaden their horizons, develop themselves, make a difference, live and work with communities in Moldova and throughout the world up to 12 months. Through volunteering with ADVIT in Moldova, participants gain valuable work experience, learn a new language and develop important vocational, interpersonal and cultural skills, while in turn offering their skills, knowledge and enthusiasm for the benefit of the projects that host them.

ADVIT Moldova offers a unique, ethical volunteering experience. They know every one of their volunteers personally which means that they provide excellent support. Their volunteers live and work with local people and form an integral part of the community. Their volunteers are matched to the projects based on their preferences, skills and interests. Below you can read some short impressions from EVS volunteers in Moldova and in our blog category ‘EVS experiences’, we will publish -in the next weeks - some ADVIT Moldova experience reports from EVS volunteers. So watch this blog regularly to be informed!

Maxie Riemenschneider (Germany): “I try to learn more about my temporary home country and its culture (learning traditional recipes, traditional handicraft, traditionally customs), spend time with my local friends, try to see as much as possible from Moldova and its neighbor-countries, travel a lot, help to organize activities, festivals and concerts or do crazy things like jumping from a 55 meter high building. All this and much more is possible in Moldova and for this I love this country and my time as an EVS-Volunteer here.”

Ronja WostHeinrich (Germany): Only after the mid-term training I realized how much I have achieved during the past three month; I am well integrated at my project, I learned to speak Romanian, I found a lot of friends and I even begin to adapt some of the Moldovan habits. I know that in three month I will have to leave and when I come to think about it makes me quite sad. But the happiness of having found a new home definitely outweighs this and I am looking forward to the coming months.”

Hannah Rees (UK): “I like the pace of life here, taking things day by day rather than continuously planning ahead. To be a capital city, Chisinau is very relaxed. I am still discovering new things every day and look forward to continuing doing so throughout my stay here.”
