Share your organisation’s work with Europe
Would you like to share your extraordinary day-to-day work with citizens around Europe? Join the European Year of Volunteering 2011 (EYV) celebrations. Share your achievements, challenges and enriching experiences. Two organisations working with volunteers will be selected in each European country. A member of the EYV team will visit you and produce films, radio chronicles and written articles about your amazing work. This media products will be promoted among television channels, radio stations, and press and Internet groups during the year. Share your story about volunteering!
You are invited to share your story about volunteering to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and tackling some of the world’s big issues related to environment, hunger, education, maternal health and HIV/AIDs. A 24-hour, online film festival on 4 December 2010 will showcase the best video stories received from volunteers, communities, civil society, non-governmental organisations and United Nations partners and will culminate with the celebrations of the International Volunteer Day (IVD), on 5 December 2010. The best stories will also inspire debate and dialogue next year, marking the tenth anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10). Your city could be the European Youth Capital 2014
Considering the success of the European Youth Capital initiative and the great interest among applicant cities, the European Youth Forum is launching a new call for the European Youth Capital 2014. Do you want to suggest your city to run for the title? Contact local authorities and persuade them to apply before 1 May 2011!
The title ‘European Youth Capital’ is granted by the European Youth Forum to a European city for a period of one year. It’s given the city the chance to show its youth-related social, economic, cultural and political life and development by presenting a multi-faceted programme. The first European Youth Capital was Rotterdam (the Netherlands) The European Youth Forum has since then awarded the EYC title to Torino (Italy), Antwerp (Belgium), Braga (Portugal) and most recently Maribor (Slovenia)
TH!NK4: Climate Change blogging competition
After the success of blogging competition TH!NK’s second edition in the run up to the Copenhagen climate summit, TH!NK4 is switching the focus to climate again. Journalists, students and bloggers are invited to use the competition’s online platform to share their thoughts, as COP16 Mexico approaches. Sign up by registering and submitting one blog post. Registration will enable you to join the competition and your post will be submitted as your first entry. Once registered you will receive a login and full access to blog on COP16 and other climate change issues. The winner of this blog competition will win a reporting trip to COP16 in Cancun. BBC World International Radio Playwriting Competition
The BBC World Service launches the global search for two of the world’s best new radioplays with the International Playwriting Competition. Two lucky writers will win the opportunity to have their plays broadcast on the World Service. It is a competition for anyone resident outside Britain, to write a 60-minute radio drama for up to six characters. There are two categories: one for writers with English as their first language and one for writers with English as their second language. The two winners will come to London and see their play made into a full radio production, which will then be broadcast on the BBC World Service. They will also each receive a £2,500 prize and there are also prizes for the runners-up. Are you interested to participate in this competition? Please, check the competition rules. 2011 European Charlemagne Youth Prize Competition is now open!
Are you involved in organizing a youth event, youth exchange or internet project with a European dimension? In that case this is your chance to participate in a competition to win the European Charlemagne Youth Prize. The European Parliament and the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen will invite youth from all the EU Member States, to participate in a competition about EU development, integration and European identity issues. The Prize is awarded to projects undertaken by young people which foster understanding, promote the development of a shared sense of European identity, and offer practical examples of Europeans living together as one community.

EU- China Year of Youth: Slogo competition
To promote the 2011 EU-China Year of Youth, a creative Logo and Slogan is being looked for. The call for ideas is addressed to all young people in the EU aged 18 to 35 years. The logo and slogan will be visible on all material related to the year. The logo/slogan shall be dynamic and capture the spirit of the EU-China Youth Year. It shall be original and the own work of the entrants. More information about how to participate in this creative call can be found here. Submission deadline: 14 November 2010.
Play the Treaty game, become a member of the EP and win!
Become a Member of the European Parliament and play the Try on the Treaty internet game, in which you can feel and act as a Member of the European Parliament. You can vote, propose your own resolutions, take part in the works of a chosen political group and parliamentary committee and respond to questions about Treaty of Lisbon. Every player collect points and the best players will win a weekend in one of the European capitals. Find out how to play the game. The game will last until 17 December 2010.
Tongue stories contest: share your story with Europe
Has knowing other languages opened doors for you, made a difference in your life? How? The European Commission would love to hear your story on the advantage of knowing languages! So join the Tongue Stories competition. Send your contribution and inspire people to use different languages by telling a interesting and amusing anecdote. The contributions from competitors in the 31 participating countries will be published on the campaign website for public voting and the best stories will be rewarded with a free trip to Brussels. The competition and the public voting are open until 31 January 2011. Check out the terms and conditions of the competition for more info.

POLYGLOT video contest on multilingualism
Young Europeans between 18 and 35 years old are invited to participate in the POLYGLOT video contest. The challenge is to produce a video about multilingualism and how it affects the young Euro-generation. The video (maximum 5 minutes long) could be submitted in two categories:
- Video Portraits (Documentaries on My multilingualism);
- Video Poems (Fictions on The language I dream in).
18 winners will be selected to attend a 2-week “Cine-Boat” film making workshop in June 2011 in Turku and the Åland Islands (Finland). The filmmakers will also present their work during a POLYGLOT film festival, as the city of Turku celebrates its status as European Capital of Culture. Submission deadline: 15 December 2010.
