Shoot against poverty competition: win a trip to Africa!
“Shoot Against Poverty” is looking for young amateur photographers between 15 and 25 years old to join us in the fight against poverty! Send in your best photograph visualizing the fight against poverty in the south. Motivate your picture and tell us something about your own commitment to this worthy cause. IGLYO poster contest: “1st of December – World AIDS day”
IGLYO is proud to announce its poster contest “1st of December – World AIDS day” to fight against the discrimination suffered by HIV-positive young people. The submitted posters should be creative, original, artistic, positive in approach and should reflect the diversity of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,Transgender(LGBTQ)movement. The selected poster will be used by IGLYO in health campaigns to fight against the discrimination of HIV positive young people. In addition, the winning participant will receive a certificate, an official IGLYO cup, a printed copy of the poster and a voucher worth € 200,-. Submission deadline: 6 November 2010. Young Reporters Against Poverty competition
Young Reporters Against Poverty (YRAP) is a competition for journalism and communication student between 18 and 30 years old, from all 27 EU Member states. Submit a written article or short radio broadcast in your native language on the subject: EU development assistance. The focus should be “aid” to support the economic, social and political development of developing countries. The 33 finalist students will be able to create their own personal page on www.youngreporters.net where their winning article/broadcast will be displayed. They will also be invited in Brussels to report from the European Development Days on 4-7 December 2010. Three overall winners will finally be selected for the press trip of a lifetime to Africa. Design the cover of the Europa Diary!
European citizens are invited to participate in the Europa Diary Cover competition. The challenge is to design a cover for the Europa diary, which should not contain any text and should be suitable for distribution to young people )aged 16-18′ in all EU countries. The Europa diary covers topics such as environment, consumer affairs, responsible consumption, and the European Union itself. The deadline for submitting entries is 13 November 2010. World Youth Movement for Democracy Essay Competition
The World Youth Movement for Democracy (WYMD) is pleased to announce the launch of its Global Essay Contest. Youngsters between the age of 18 and 30 years old are invited to submit an essay on democracy. The Two Global winners will be announced and provided with a sponsorship to cover travel and othere expenses related to their participation in the Community of Democracies Ministerial Meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania, in July 2011. IYV+10 Volunteer Video Competition
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the UN International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10), the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) invites young volunteers to create short (30-60 second) videos showing their visions for how to make the world a better place through volunteering. The video theme will be: “Volunteering to Change the World”. The challenge is to create a film that advertise the tenth anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers. Your video can show your volunteer work, your motivations for volunteering, your hopes and visions for 2011, it can inspire other people to volunteer, or any number of other things. YouThink! Storytelling Contest about your culture
YouThink! is kicking off the International Year of Youth by organising a storytelling contest. The challenge is to finish the story on the YouThink! web site, adding no more than 300 words. Because the theme of the International Year of Youth relates to dialog and understanding across cultures, generations and borders, you need to include one thing about your culture in your story. It could be a song, a tradition, a piece of clothing, a verse from a poem…it’s up to you. This is your chance to share something about your culture with the rest of the world. 2nd Edition of the STP multimedia competition launched
The Sustainable Thinking Platform has launched the second edition of its multimedia competition aimed at young people aged 18-30 years old. The challenge is to take a picture, write an essay or to create a video that can inspire others to embrace sustainability as a way of life and answers the question:“With an ever-increasing population, how can we maximise resource efficiency to meet our growing needs?”
Participants will be competing for the chance to win a laptop computer, a photographic camera or a camcorder depending on the entry category. Even if you are not a winner, you may not have to walk away empty handed. By spreading the word of the competition amongst your friends, you will increase the chances of being awarded a 100 Euro Amazon gift certificate. As in the previous edition, participants are asked to rate other members’ work. These votes will be used to select the finalists for the competition, with the winners chosen by a professional panel of journalists and industry representatives.
