Each year the Heinz-Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe, in co-operation with the European Youth Parliament, invites young Europeans between 18 and 26 years, who have worked in an honorary capacity towards the understanding between people and/or European integration, to be nominated for the Young European of the Year Award. If you would like to nominate someone please fill out the form on this web page. Deadline for sending applications is 30 September 2010.

European Entrepreneurship Video Award

The European Commission invites European cinema, business and management students, entrepreneurs and creative companies to get together and show their own creative vision of entrepreneurship by participating in The European Entrepreneurship Video Award. The challenge is to make a video in one of the following 3 categories:european union

  • “Entrepreneurship – A different way of life”
  • “Entrepreneurship – Challenges and rewards”
  • “Entrepreneurship – The way into the future”

Winners of The Youth Media Award 2009 announced

youth media award 2009The European Youth press together with the Council of Europe announced the winners of the Europe is MORE than you think Award. They invited young journalists from all over Europe to look beyond the headlines which dominate the common understanding of Europe and show what Europe really stands for and what it means to be European nowadays. The competition had received over 200 entries in 4 categories: photography, video journalism, print and radio journalism. The 4 winners will be presented with their certificates in a ceremony to be held on 27 January in Strasbourg. Are you curious for the winning entries? Take a look at the Youthmedia.eu blog.

Young European of the Year 2009 awarded

european of the year 2009Every year the Heinz-Schwarzkopf Foundation awards ‘The Young European of the Year’ in co-operation with the European Youth Parliament. This year the award ceremony took place on 2 December in Berlin where the Young European of the Year 2009 Sandra Orlovic from Serbia was awarded. She works for the Humanitarian Law Center in Belgrade. The foundation rewarded her for her commitment to stimulating international understanding between people. According to the foundation her commitment to the understanding in southeast Europe is exemplary.

Every year the foundation is looking for young European people between the age of 18 and 28 years old who dedicated themselves in a particular way to European communication and integration. The award is financed with € 5000, – to be used tot finance a 6 month practical traineeship with a Member of the European Parliament or another European institution or to finance a project which promotes European integration. Win the Youth Media Award 2009

Young journalists, videographers and photographers aged between 18 and 27 are invited to participate in theyouth media award ‘Europe Is More Than You Think’ Award 2009;  THE journalistic competition for young journalists from all over Europe. They will compete in the following categories: written journalism, podcast journalism, videography and photography. The challenge to the young media specialists is to look beyond the headlines which dominate the common understanding of Europe and show what Europe really stands for and what it means to be European nowadays. The first prize winners will win a 4 day trip to Strasbourg to attend and report on the Parliamentary Assembly for the Council of Europe on 26-30th January.

Your chance to win the next European Young Journalist Award!

Winners Ubuntu Youth Voluntary Awards 2009

On September 30th the winners of the Ubuntu International Youth Voluntary Service Awards 2009, an award for quality in youth voluntary service, were announced at the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg, South Africa. The winning awards:ubuntu

Commenting on the awards, the former European Commissioner Ján Figel said in a European Commission Press Release:    “I congratulate the winners of the Ubuntu Awards. They exemplify all that is positive about volunteering..(…) It further pleases me tot see that the next Awards will take place in 2011, the European Year of Volunteering.”
