TH!NK4: Climate Change blogging competition
After the success of blogging competition TH!NK’s second edition in the run up to the Copenhagen climate summit, TH!NK4 is switching the focus to climate again. Journalists, students and bloggers are invited to use the competition’s online platform to share their thoughts, as COP16 Mexico approaches. Sign up by registering and submitting one blog post. Registration will enable you to join the competition and your post will be submitted as your first entry. Once registered you will receive a login and full access to blog on COP16 and other climate change issues. The winner of this blog competition will win a reporting trip to COP16 in Cancun. BBC World International Radio Playwriting Competition
The BBC World Service launches the global search for two of the world’s best new radioplays with the International Playwriting Competition. Two lucky writers will win the opportunity to have their plays broadcast on the World Service. It is a competition for anyone resident outside Britain, to write a 60-minute radio drama for up to six characters. There are two categories: one for writers with English as their first language and one for writers with English as their second language. The two winners will come to London and see their play made into a full radio production, which will then be broadcast on the BBC World Service. They will also each receive a £2,500 prize and there are also prizes for the runners-up. Are you interested to participate in this competition? Please, check the competition rules. 2011 European Charlemagne Youth Prize Competition is now open!
Are you involved in organizing a youth event, youth exchange or internet project with a European dimension? In that case this is your chance to participate in a competition to win the European Charlemagne Youth Prize. The European Parliament and the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen will invite youth from all the EU Member States, to participate in a competition about EU development, integration and European identity issues. The Prize is awarded to projects undertaken by young people which foster understanding, promote the development of a shared sense of European identity, and offer practical examples of Europeans living together as one community.

IDA Video Challenge: let your voice be heard!
World leaders will be gathering next month to discuss the replenishment of the International Development Association (IDA) fund, the World Bank’s fund for the poorest countries that helps fight poverty in Africa. The World Bank want you to join this conversation submitting your video. The challenge is to answer the following question in a 2-minute video: If you were asked to advise the Bank on what to fund in your village, your town, your province, your state or your country to reduce poverty, what would you recommend and why? EU- China Year of Youth: Slogo competition
To promote the 2011 EU-China Year of Youth, a creative Logo and Slogan is being looked for. The call for ideas is addressed to all young people in the EU aged 18 to 35 years. The logo and slogan will be visible on all material related to the year. The logo/slogan shall be dynamic and capture the spirit of the EU-China Youth Year. Tongue stories contest: share your story with Europe
Has knowing other languages opened doors for you, made a difference in your life? How? The European Commission would love to hear your story on the advantage of knowing languages! So join the Tongue Stories competition. Send your contribution and inspire people to use different languages by telling a interesting and amusing anecdote. The contributions from competitors in the 31 participating countries will be published on the campaign website for public voting and the best stories will be rewarded with a free trip to Brussels. POLYGLOT video contest on multilingualism
Young Europeans between 18 and 35 years old are invited to participate in the POLYGLOT video contest. The challenge is to produce a video about multilingualism and how it affects the young Euro-generation. The video (maximum 5 minutes long) could be submitted in two categories:
- Video Portraits (Documentaries on My multilingualism);
- Video Poems (Fictions on The language I dream in).
18 winners will be selected to attend a 2-week “Cine-Boat” film making workshop in June 2011 in Turku and the Åland Islands (Finland). The filmmakers will also present their work during a POLYGLOT film festival, as the city of Turku celebrates its status as European Capital of Culture. Submission deadline: 15 December 2010. Shoot against poverty competition: win a trip to Africa!
“Shoot Against Poverty” is looking for young amateur photographers between 15 and 25 years old to join us in the fight against poverty! Send in your best photograph visualizing the fight against poverty in the south. Motivate your picture and tell us something about your own commitment to this worthy cause. Maybe your picture will be selected for the outdoor exposition in the centre of Brussels during the European Development Days in 2010. IGLYO poster contest: “1st of December – World AIDS day”
IGLYO is proud to announce its poster contest “1st of December – World AIDS day” to fight against the discrimination suffered by HIV-positive young people. The submitted posters should be creative, original, artistic, positive in approach and should reflect the diversity of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,Transgender(LGBTQ)movement. The selected poster will be used by IGLYO in health campaigns to fight against the discrimination of HIV positive young people. In addition, the winning participant will receive a certificate, an official IGLYO cup, a printed copy of the poster and a voucher worth € 200,-. Submission deadline: 6 November 2010.
