Photo competition: In Search of Solidarity
The Party of European Socialists Group in the Committee of the Regions invites young Europeans between the age of 18 and 30 years old to participate in the photo competition ‘In Search of Solidarity’. The challenge is tot shape the concept of solidarity and present concrete solutions to fight poverty. Photo documentaries (3-6 photos), which illustrate local initiatives helping the most deprived groups, can be submitted before the deadline of 30 September 2010. In addition to high value prizes such as semi-professional photographic kits, the winners will be invited to Brussels to attend a seminar on combating poverty in Europe and their photos will be displayed in an exhibition.
The Sustainable Thinking Platform launched a multimedia competition
The Sustainable Thinking Platform has launched a multimedia competition aimed at young people between the age of 18 and 30 years old. The challenge is to take a picture, write an essay or to create a video that can inspire others to embrace sustainability as a way of life and answers the question: ‘ Faced with increasing resource scarcity, how can young people contribute to the promotion of sustainable production and consumption?’. The winner will receive a laptop computer, photo camera or a camcorder depending on the category competing in. The submission deadline is 31 July 2010, but the Sustainable Thinking Platform plans to give away a brand new Apple iPad to one lucky person who registers to participate in the competition before 30 June!! This community, comprised of young people from all the around the world, gives you the opportunity to exchange ideas, share artistic creations and connect woth hundreds of people interested in building a better future for our planet.
Photo contest NO1OUT: fight against poverty and social exclusion
On the occasion of the 2010 European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, Europe Direct Firenze announces the Photo Contest ‘NO1OUT’ under the theme: ‘Fight against poverty and social exclusion’. The challenge is to photograph a situation of poverty or social exclusion in the European Union. This photo competition, organised by the European Journalism Centre, is about the changing world, which aims to create a mosaic of images from all corners of the globe to show how local communities are developing. Photo Competition: My World: Visions of 21st Century Feminism
The European Women’s Lobby (EWL) is inviting European young women (less than 40 years old) to join this photo competition and think about the concept of feminism and what it means today. The pictures should make a creative and powerful statement on the theme “My World: Visions of 21st Century Feminism.” The best ones will be used for an exhibition which highlights how feminism is still relevant to a new generation of women. Apply to the Europemobility Video Contest 2010!
The Europemobility Video Contest, supported by the European Commission, is open to any European citizen who has accomplished a study program, youth exchange or work placement abroad, within Europe. The challenge is to create an original and creative video that show mobility experiences. You can make a documentary or a short presentation, about a general or a specific aspect of your stay abroad. There are two award categories, one for the videos elected by the Europemobility Jury and one for those elected by the online voters. Europemobility will award €500,- for the best video nominated by the Jury and a netbook for the best video nominated by the online voters. They also both win a trip to the Award Ceremony. Culture Past Culture Future European Youth Competition
The Culture Past Culture Future Competition is a joint European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) Greece project, organized within the framework of the international conference taking place in Athens on 24-27 November 2010 entitled The Athens Dialogues International Conference. The competition invites young European people between the age of 21 and 30 years old to contribute to a dialogue about the legacy of Greek culture and thinking in addressing the challenges of the 21st century. Candidates are invited to submit a paper or essay of up to 3,000 words addressing one of the following six themes to be discussed at conference: Identity and Difference, Stories and Histories, Word and Art, Democracy and Governance, Science and Ethics or Quality of Life. Results of the Fundamental Rights Agency Video Competition 2010
Last month the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) announced the 4 winners of the FRA International Video Competition 2010. The winning videos’ selection criteria were originality, message clarity and relevance to the EU fundamental rights themes. One of the winning videos:
EU Journalist Award: Together against discrimination
The European Commission invites online and print journalists to take part in the EU Journalist Award 2010 – Together against discrimination organised in the framework of the Commission’s anti-discrimination campaign. The articles on issues of discrimination and diversity in the European Union must be submitted before the competition deadline of 17 September 2010. Charlemagne Youth Prize 2010: And the winner is…
…the German project “European CNC Network – Train for Europe” was awarded the first prize in the European Charlemagne Youth Prize competition. The project brought together 24 vocational schools to build a small-gauge locomotive and wagons. 2nd and 3th prizes went to the Irish book project “You are here” and “Best Engineering Competition BEC” from Bulgaria. The European Charlemagne Youth Prize is awarded to projects that promote European understanding and foster the development of a shared sense of European identity.
