BBC World International Radio Playwriting Competition
The BBC World Service launches the global search for two of the world’s best new radioplays with the International Playwriting Competition. Two lucky writers will win the opportunity to have their plays broadcast on the World Service. It is a competition for anyone resident outside Britain, to write a 60-minute radio drama for up to six characters. There are two categories: one for writers with English as their first language and one for writers with English as their second language. The two winners will come to London and see their play made into a full radio production, which will then be broadcast on the BBC World Service. They will also each receive a £2,500 prize and there are also prizes for the runners-up. Are you interested to participate in this competition? Please, check the competition rules. IDA Video Challenge: let your voice be heard!
World leaders will be gathering next month to discuss the replenishment of the International Development Association (IDA) fund, the World Bank’s fund for the poorest countries that helps fight poverty in Africa. The World Bank want you to join this conversation submitting your video. The challenge is to answer the following question in a 2-minute video: If you were asked to advise the Bank on what to fund in your village, your town, your province, your state or your country to reduce poverty, what would you recommend and why? EU- China Year of Youth: Slogo competition
To promote the 2011 EU-China Year of Youth, a creative Logo and Slogan is being looked for. The call for ideas is addressed to all young people in the EU aged 18 to 35 years. The logo and slogan will be visible on all material related to the year. The logo/slogan shall be dynamic and capture the spirit of the EU-China Youth Year. POLYGLOT video contest on multilingualism
Young Europeans between 18 and 35 years old are invited to participate in the POLYGLOT video contest. The challenge is to produce a video about multilingualism and how it affects the young Euro-generation. The video (maximum 5 minutes long) could be submitted in two categories:
- Video Portraits (Documentaries on My multilingualism);
- Video Poems (Fictions on The language I dream in).
18 winners will be selected to attend a 2-week “Cine-Boat” film making workshop in June 2011 in Turku and the Åland Islands (Finland). The filmmakers will also present their work during a POLYGLOT film festival, as the city of Turku celebrates its status as European Capital of Culture. Submission deadline: 15 December 2010. IGLYO poster contest: “1st of December – World AIDS day”
IGLYO is proud to announce its poster contest “1st of December – World AIDS day” to fight against the discrimination suffered by HIV-positive young people. The submitted posters should be creative, original, artistic, positive in approach and should reflect the diversity of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,Transgender(LGBTQ)movement. The selected poster will be used by IGLYO in health campaigns to fight against the discrimination of HIV positive young people. In addition, the winning participant will receive a certificate, an official IGLYO cup, a printed copy of the poster and a voucher worth € 200,-. Submission deadline: 6 November 2010. Young Reporters Against Poverty competition
Young Reporters Against Poverty (YRAP) is a competition for journalism and communication student between 18 and 30 years old, from all 27 EU Member states. Submit a written article or short radio broadcast in your native language on the subject: EU development assistance. The focus should be “aid” to support the economic, social and political development of developing countries. The 33 finalist students will be able to create their own personal page on www.youngreporters.net where their winning article/broadcast will be displayed. They will also be invited in Brussels to report from the European Development Days on 4-7 December 2010. Three overall winners will finally be selected for the press trip of a lifetime to Africa. Design the cover of the Europa Diary!
European citizens are invited to participate in the Europa Diary Cover competition. The challenge is to design a cover for the Europa diary, which should not contain any text and should be suitable for distribution to young people )aged 16-18′ in all EU countries. The Europa diary covers topics such as environment, consumer affairs, responsible consumption, and the European Union itself. The deadline for submitting entries is 13 November 2010. World Youth Movement for Democracy Essay Competition
The World Youth Movement for Democracy (WYMD) is pleased to announce the launch of its Global Essay Contest. Youngsters between the age of 18 and 30 years old are invited to submit an essay on democracy. The Two Global winners will be announced and provided with a sponsorship to cover travel and othere expenses related to their participation in the Community of Democracies Ministerial Meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania, in July 2011. 2nd Edition of the STP multimedia competition launched
The Sustainable Thinking Platform has launched the second edition of its multimedia competition aimed at young people aged 18-30 years old. The challenge is to take a picture, write an essay or to create a video that can inspire others to embrace sustainability as a way of life and answers the question:“With an ever-increasing population, how can we maximise resource efficiency to meet our growing needs?”
Participants will be competing for the chance to win a laptop computer, a photographic camera or a camcorder depending on the entry category. Even if you are not a winner, you may not have to walk away empty handed. By spreading the word of the competition amongst your friends, you will increase the chances of being awarded a 100 Euro Amazon gift certificate. As in the previous edition, participants are asked to rate other members’ work. These votes will be used to select the finalists for the competition, with the winners chosen by a professional panel of journalists and industry representatives.
