In the spotlight: Student Youth Council from Georgia

The Student Youth Council from Georgia has been established in 2001 by four student organizations, promoting establishment of high education standards in Ozurgeti (Guria region, West Georgia). The*Student-Youth Council* is a public union, which aims at solving the problems that youth and students are facing by protecting their rights, promoting knowledge and skills, filling informational gap, realizing youth’s intellectual, creative, cultural and sport potentials. Nowadays the organization works in the following programmes:

  • Youth integration and assistance for their active involvement in public life;
  • Assistance to promote and develop volunteering;
  • Assistance to establish and develop democratic govern/self-govern.

*Student-Youth Council* is also involved in the “Youth in Action” programme. They already took part in 25 different kind of activities such as 5 “Youth Exchanges”, where the organisation was co-organizer sending organization and the co-organizer host organization of two projects as well as. Since 2008 *Student-Youth Council* is also involved in EVS projects. So far 20 EVS volunteers worked in their organization and they also send15 Georgian volunteers to Poland, Greece, Czech Republic, Italy, Hungary and Romania.

Share your organisation’s work with Europe

Would you like to share your extraordinary day-to-day work with citizens around Europe? Join the European Year of Volunteering 2011 (EYV) celebrations. Share your achievements, challenges and enriching experiences. Two organisations working with volunteers will be selected in each European country. A member of the EYV team will visit you and produce films, radio chronicles and written articles about your amazing work. This media products will be promoted among television channels, radio stations, and press and Internet groups during the year. IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Armenian Progressive Youth

“Armenian progressive youth’’ NGO is a voluntary social union based on the common interests of individuals. The principles of organization’s activity are legality, voluntary, equality of rights, self-governing, publicity. The objectives of organization are:

  • To inform youth about international conferences, seminars, educational perspectives and other events.
  • To organize scientific meetings, round-tables, seminars and lectures on various issues.
  • To implement environmental projects in Armenia.
  • To promote and agitate sport and healthy life.
  • To promote the development of blogosphere in Armenia.
  • To cooperate with other youth NGO-s.
  • To promote the creation and development of relationships between students and the  economic sector.
  • To write and publish educational materials and publications.
  • To organize and implement youth exchanges and educational programs.

APY and EVS
APY takes much attention to EVS project as they think that EVS is the best way of mutual cooperation and understanding. EVS provides a unique opportunity for young people to travel to different countries, to work as a volunteer, to receive new skills and knowledge. Now APY implements conculting activity and spread information about various EVS projects to Armenian youth.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Youth Association Droni

Youth Association Droni (YAD) from Georgia is a non-governmental organization with the mission to promote the establishment of a modern, healthy, educated and perfect society. The organisation aims are to support the young people’s physical, spiritual and educational development and to develop educational initiatives in the field of civil society, conflict resolution, human rights and peace-building, to promote intercultural relations in Georgian society of Youth. YAD is mostly focusing its activities to the Caucasian region and cooperates with different NGO’s in Europe.

Activities
YAD has been providing activities on: human rights education, gender issues, conflict prevention and peace-building, active citizenship and youth participation. For example YAD was actively involved in “All Different, All Equal” European Youth Campaign for Diversity, Human Rights and Participation in Georgia.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Roots & Routes

Roots & Routes is an international network for the promotion of cultural and social diversity in contemporary performing arts and media. An increasing number of initiatives empower urban youths by helping and coaching them to use their singing, dancing and media skills as an economic weapon and a tool for social integration and citizenship. At the European level a number of these initiatives are united in the Roots & Routes International network. Roots & Routes organises courses, master classes, performances and events, exchanges and mobility programmes for young dance, music and media talents in more than 10 European countries. IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Youth association creACTive

creACTive: the world of creative and active young people
creACTive is a youth association from Macedonia for support of creativity and active citizenship of young people. Formed in 2007, creACTive has a main aim to assist the personal development of young people by providing them with a variety of non-formal education activities. creACTive currently has one Youth Centre in Kavadarci and two Youth Clubs – one in Skopje and another one in the village of Drenovo.

‘It was a big experience for me to work in creACTive. During the work I improved my language skills (English, Macedonian), I learnt how to organize events involving many people. AEGEE-Baki, European Students Forum Baku Public Union is a non-political, secular and non-commercial youth organization from Azerbaijan.
