Win a prize for your school or university by making promotional films
Lights, Camera, Action! The Publications Office of the European Union is calling on the creativity and technical skills of young people studying subjects like communication and film for the production of short, fun and entertaining promotional films on two of its services: EU Bookshop and Ted (Tenders Electronic Daily). The contest is open to all educational establishments based in one of the 27 EU Member States or an EEA country, which can submit as many entries as they desire. Play the Treaty game, become a member of the EP and win!
Become a Member of the European Parliament and play the Try on the Treaty internet game, in which you can feel and act as a Member of the European Parliament. You can vote, propose your own resolutions, take part in the works of a chosen political group and parliamentary committee and respond to questions about Treaty of Lisbon. Charlemagne Youth Prize 2010: And the winner is…
…the German project “European CNC Network – Train for Europe” was awarded the first prize in the European Charlemagne Youth Prize competition. The project brought together 24 vocational schools to build a small-gauge locomotive and wagons. 2nd and 3th prizes went to the Irish book project “You are here” and “Best Engineering Competition BEC” from Bulgaria. The European Charlemagne Youth Prize is awarded to projects that promote European understanding and foster the development of a shared sense of European identity. European Parliament Prize for Journalism launched
This year for the third time the European Parliament Prize for Journalism will be awarded to journalists who have covered major European issues or promoted a better understanding of the EU institutions and/or EU policies. The prize of € 5.000,- will be awarded in four different categories: written press, radio, TV and internet. Win the International Poetry Prize ‘Castello di Duino’
Young people up to the age of 30 years are invited to submit one unpublished poem on the theme of ‘lights/shadows’. Application deadline: 31 December 2009 for individuals and 15 January 2010 for schools or collective projects. Apply to our Photo & Slogan contest & win 2 concert tickets!
We invite European youngsters between the age of 16 and 30 years old to participate in our Europe Photo & Slogan contest! The challenge is to make a picture in combination with an original slogan which is telling your vision of Europe and shows what Europe really stands for or means to you. From all submitted entries the YouthNetworks jury will choose the 3 most creative and original photo & slogans. After the announcement of the short-listed photos in our newsletter on 1 February, you will all be able to vote on your favorite picture until 1 March 2010. The participant who gets the most votes, is the lucky one to win 2 tickets to a concert of your own choice. Are you creative and do you want to win this contest? Rules & conditions
The first prize will be 2 tickets to a concert of your own choice. Attend for example a concert of Joss Stone in Hamburg on 5 March 2010, Star Wars in Concert in Glasgow on 13 March 2010 or Mika in Barcelona on 18 April 2010! Feel free to choose your favorite concert anyplace you want, however the travel costs will not be covered by YouthNetworks and the concert must take place between 1 April 2010 and 1 July 2010. You have to arrange the tickets by yourself. After you bought the tickets, you can declare the bill of a maximum amount of €100,- at YouthNetworks. As a condition of the prize the winner must (not later than a month after the concert) write a short report about his or her experiences during the concert completed with some pictures or a video, which we will publish on this blog.
Apply for the European Drug Prevention Prize 2010
The Pompidou Group calls for projects to apply for the European Drug Prevention Prize 2010 to create a better and healthier environment for all communities in Europe. These active youth drug prevention projects must be currently running, managed by young people, targeting children and young people and be innovative in as many ways as possible. The prizes will be awarded to three youth projects that will each receive a trophy, a diploma and €5000,-. The award ceremony will take place at the Ministerial Conference on 3-4 November 2010 in Strasbourg. Deadline for submission is 31 March 2010. Winners of the Development Youth Prize awarded!
Last week on 23 October the winners of the Development Youth Prize 2008-09 were awarded in Stockholm during the European Development Days 2009. EU Commissioner Karel Gucht handed over the prizes to all winners of the poster and video competition. The 27 first prize winners – one from every EU member state – will go on a trip to Africa to visit development projects and meet people their own age. The more than 1200 young participants show the success of the competition and the commitment of young Europeans to fight poverty. Are you curious to see the winning posters and videos?
